Saturday Sept. 22nd!

Next Saturday I'll be at table AA40 at the Jet City Comic Show! I'll be selling copies of Loserville, prints and original work. I'll also be GIVING AWAY hugs and awkward social exchanges.

It'll be fun-ish!

I've also printed up some business cards on bristol and every card will have a mediocre sketch on the back.

You can find show deets here:

Sea Monster!

Hi! Do you want to see the convoluted process I use to make my mediocre comics? No? Well tough shit! (Note: these were initially posted on my FB page here: Loserville Facebook Page )

1) Here is the initial drawing that I did at work. Drawing at work is how I keep from totally losing my shit.

2) Next, I scan it and clean it up in photoshop and print out a blue lined version to ink. I would post the blue lined version, but it's too much trouble for me to open up photoshop and save it as a jpeg. Just imagine this is baby blue instead of black, and you get the general idea.

3) Then I "flat" the image to separate out all the parts that I'm going to color. All sorts of online tutorials say you're supposed to do this before coloring it. I don't understand it, but I do it anyway.

4) Then, I go in and color it. I use an antique version of photoshop with some free brushes that I found on the Internet somewhere. Funsies!

Hi! I will be at this year's Jet City Comic Show Saturday 9/22. I'll be somewhere in Artist Alley. Probably sandwiched between guys with tattoos and hot girlfriends who publish books like nobody's business.

The deets on the show can be found on the internet here:

I will be selling this print, it's yours for $10 and a hug!

And this one! Also $10 and a hug!

Jenna and her husband, Deke, live up to the title of this silly but provocative tale. Facing such a panorama of plot oddities as Deke's desire to dress like clowns while they make love, Jenna being diagnosed with a disease that can lead to corporeal explosion, and hallucinations that involve an ice-cream delivery van, we are sucked into a vortex of uneasiness. One of the most successful features of the fast-paced story is its riff on reality talk shows. Cox's art suits both his characters and their shenanigans, foils, and surroundings: the simple, black-and-white cartooning pops with expressive actions and scenery that advance both the plot and the immediate depictions of each predicament. When Ice Cream Larry instructs Jenna on what being "In the Between" entails, Cox strikes a note of brilliance, illustrating in tightly woven words and images how multiple realities can and do coexist. Readers who remember Shannon Wheeler's satirical superhero, Too Much Coffee Man, will appreciate the antics on display here.--Francisca Goldsmith
